Checking in on… St. Arnold’s of Cleveland Park

No longer the newest restaurant in Cleveland Park, St. Arnold’s Mussel Bar is still relatively fresh having only been open for about six months. We decided that we would do some research to see how the location has been faring in the world of online reviews.

Our first stop was Yelp, where St. Arnold’s is doing very well with 4 stars from 54 reviews. The reviews are overwhelmingly positive, with a handful of outliers who claim to be shocked by the glowing reviews most Yelpers have given. A common theme among the less positive reviews is that the Dupont location is much better.

St. Arnold’s Cleveland Park was also a written up last month from Alex Baldinger of the Washington Post. Although the article was short on the “review” part of the review, it seemed positive.

The house specialty, Mussels St. Arnold’s, arrives in a house-made beer broth laced with caramelized shallots, garlic, thyme and duck fat. Each order comes with a side of Belgian frites and bread for dipping. It’s a hearty entree that’s well worth the $18.

In all, it seems like things are going very well for St. Arnold’s. The Yelp score is very impressive and neighbors seem to enjoy the place. Social media mentions are overwhelmingly positive and we can confidently say that this is an upgrade from Sabores.

This place would be better if it was less expensive. We recently went there and for two people with one beer each and one mussels each (which were meh), the bill (after tip) was about $70. I know food in Cleveland Park is expensive, but that’s ridiculous.

    I can’t say I disagree with that…
